Ken Adams
Director, Montana Shared Catalog
Years of MSL Service: 3
Before coming to the State Library and, after 25 years active duty as a weather and oceanographic analyst/forecaster in the U.S. Navy, I worked at: Oakland Airport launching/tracking weather balloons; Station Library, NAS Sigonella Italy as library tech; Nutraceutical Corp (Park City, UT) as data manager and librarian; CPS Systems inc. (Provo, UT) as technical library consultant; and SirsiDynix corp. (Provo, UT) as consultant for automated ILL software and systems engineer. I maintain active memberships in the Montana Library Association and the Naval Weather Service Association. Served as a volunteer (weather service for alpine skiing events) during the 2002 Winter Olympics and Paralympics in Salt Lake City, UT.

Bob Cooper
Director of Statewide Library Resources

Bob began his tenure with MSL as a temporary employee in July 1990 organizing the 1991 Governor’s Conference on Libraries and Montana’s participation in the 1991 White House Conference on Libraries. He was then hired full time by MSL in June 1991 to coordinate library construction grants. Bob took a hiatus from library work in 1996 to work with troubled youth and then returned to MSL in September 1998 as a Statewide Technology Consultant. He is currently a manager at MSL.

Gerry Daumiller
GIS Programmer/Analyst

Previous professional experience: Prior to coming to the State Library I was a teaching assistant in the Geography Department at the University of Wisconsin, a draftsman in the Montana Department of Highways Mapping Section, and a medical laboratory technician with Great Falls Deaconess Hospital and the U.S. Air Force.
Professional organizations, publications and other professional information: I am a member of the Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals (MAGIP), the Association of American Geographers, and the Cartography and Geographic Information Society.
I received the Governor's Appreciation Award for Excellence in Performance in 1991 and the MAGIP Distinguished Service award in 2002.
I was President of MAGIP in 2007 and President of the Lewis and Clark Humane Society from 1998-2000. Education: I have a B.A. in Geography from the University of Montana and attended graduate school in Cartography for three years at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Jim Kammerer
Library Information Services Manager

Jim manages the Library Information Services department’s ongoing transition from print resources to providing digital library services to better serve all Montanans. Prior to MSL, Jim taught high school English, served as priest, and worked as a records manager/archivist for a consortium of semiconductor manufacturers in Austin, Texas. His interests include permaculture, soccer, dancing, trail running, and raising Valiant grapes in Helena.

Sarah McHugh
Statewide Projects Librarian

Sarah is from Missoula and Bigfork. Sarah has an M.A. in History from the University of Montana and an M.L.S. from Syracuse University. Prior to becoming Statewide Projects Librarian, Sarah was the Director of the Montana Shared Catalog from 2002-2007. Sarah serves as the State Librarian’s appointee on the BCR Board of Trustees and on the OCLC Web Scale Management Services Advisory Council. Sarah's favorite place on earth is the family cabin on Flathead Lake, where she’s been spending time since she was four years old. Sarah and her husband Robin have three lovely daughters.

Maggie Meredith Statewide Consulting Librarian

I started to work for the Montana State Library: In August of 1996 I was hired as a temp to work the reference desk. That fall, I was hired permanently as a Reference Consulting Librarian and I left in 1999 during reorganization. I returned to MSL as a Statewide Consulting Librarian in January of 2006.
Previous professional experience: Before coming to the State Library I worked in Seattle in the employment industry. As for libraries, I have been a volunteer docent at the UW-Tacoma branch, an Office Assistant in Government documents at the Wasserman Public Affairs Library at the University of Texas and a Records Information Manager for the EPA Superfund Record Center.
Education: I received my Masters in Library Science from The University of Texas at Austin, and my B.A. from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA.

Diane Papineau
GIS Programmer/Analyst
Years of MSL Service: 2
Diane holds an MS degree in Earth Sciences from Montana State University (Bozeman), emphasizing GIS, remote sensing, historical/cultural geography, and GIS education. Her work at NRIS involves natural resource data collection/dissemination, spatial analysis/mapping, as well as user documentation, testing, and outreach related to the Montana GIS Portal. She is currently serving on the board of the Montana Association of Geographic Information Professionals and is a member of the Association of American Geographers. Diane earned a BS degree in Cinema and Photography from Ithaca College (NY). She worked many years as an Interpretive Park Ranger in Yellowstone National Park as well as a technical writer and illustrator with private software companies in Massachusetts and Montana. A native of New Hampshire, Diane has lived and worked in Yellowstone and south central Montana since 1988. She enjoys tango, Latin, ballroom, and swing dancing; hiking and skiing with many friends in three Montana counties. Oh, and she makes a tasty meatloaf and a spicy salmon chowder too.

Darlene Marie Preble Staffeldt

Previous professional experience: Before coming to the State Library I worked at the Pacific Northwest Bibliographic Center in Seattle, WA; the Renne Library in Bozeman, MT; and the Great Falls Public Library in Great Falls
Professional organizations, publications and other professional information: I maintain active memberships in the Montana Library Association and the Public Library Association, as well as less active memberships in the American Library Association, the Mountain Plains Library Association and the Pacific Northwest Library Association. Received the Governor’s Appreciation Award for Excellence in Performance in 1993. Received the Sheila Cates Librarian of the Year award in 1999.
Education: I received my Masters in Library Science from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA and my Bachelors of Science in History from the Montana State University, Bozeman, MT Yea Bobcats!
I have attended a number of continuing education workshops, seminars over the last thirty years that have increased my knowledge, skills, and abilities. Some of my favorite sessions have been on third party conflict resolution, clutter be gone, and time management, as well as some basic how to use library reference tools.

Jennie Guidi Stapp

I was first introduced to library work while a student at Rocky Mountain College. As a Peace Corps volunteer in Bolivia I decided to pursue librarianship as a profession. While a library student at the University of Arizona I worked as a student archivist at the university Special Collections Library. Following completion of my MLS I worked as the Technical Services Librarian for the Montana Historical Society Research Center before coming to the State Library. My first position at the State Library was that of Montana Shared Catalog Technical Assistant, then as Cataloger, then as State Publications Content Specialist and finally, as Digital Library Director.
