Stamp Out Stress (SOS)

Program Description

Life changes are not always easy to handle. Many boomers may feel overwhelmed by retirement, caring for older parents, caring for children, or new living arrangements. This program is designed to help persons alleviate stress.


  • Advice on stress management.
  • Exercises and meditations that reduce stress.
  • Biofeedback and relaxation techniques that reduce stress.
  • Behavior modification.


  • Mental health practitioner who specializes in aging.
  • Social service staff of local hospital.
  • Yoga practitioners.
  • Staff from Area Agency on Aging.
  • County extension staff.


  • Length - 1½ hours.
  • Auditorium-style seating. Note: Leave extra room between rows so participants can practice relaxation exercises.
  • Preparation time - 2 hours.

Make It Special

  • Play new age music as patrons enter the room.
  • Ask a local hospital, pharmacy or insurance agency to donate "stress balls" for all participants.
