PEEL II 2007 Scholarship Recipient
Mary Drew Powers of Whitefish is the Assistant Branch Librarian at the Whitefish Branch Library. She has a BA in
Social Work from the University of Montana. In her library career, Mary plans to form partnerships with community
groups, offer diverse programming, and share with other Montana librarians.
PEEL II 2006 Scholarship Recipients
Nine Montana residents were awarded PEEL II scholarships in 2006 to attend the three-year distance program at the University of Washington's Information School.
Michelle Fenger of Ronan.
Michelle has a BS in Elementary Education from MSU-Northern. She has a passion for library services in small,
rural communities and wants to serve this Montana population. Michelle is currently the director of the Ronan City Library.
Brett Fisher of Columbia Falls.
Brett has a BS in Information Systems from Brigham Young University-Hawaii. He loves community involvement and sees librarianship as a way
to combine that passion with a rewarding career. Brett is currently a technology coordinator with the Flathead County Library.
Nancy Hatfield of Bozeman.
Nancy received her MLIS degree from the University of Washington’s Information School in August 2008.
She currently works as a substitute children's librarian at the Bozeman Public Library.
Stef Johnson of Butte.
Stef has a BA in English Literature from the University of Idaho.
She is currently the Reference and Systems Librarian at the Butte-Silver Bow Library.
Desiree Dramstad of Deer Lodge. Desiree has a BA in English from the University of Montana.
She became interested in the provision of library services to incarcerated people early in her studies at the
University of Washington. Desiree is a librarian at the Montana State Prison.
Lee Phillips of Butte.
Lee has a BA in Art from San Francisco State University. She is interested in the value of consortiums for school and rural
libraries and will work toward a broader application of collection development for Montana libraries.
Lee is currently the director of the Butte-Silver Bow Public Library.
Kathryn Robins of Billings. Kathy has a BA in Business Information Systems from MSU-Billings.
Her IT skills, including the design of a curriculum for a 4th grade research project, will benefit patrons in community
and school libraries. Kathy is a self-employed technology consultant and works part-time in the reference department
at Parmly Billings Library.
Megan Stark of Missoula. Megan has a BA in English Literature from the University of Montana and an
MA in Publishing from Portland State University. She is committed to promoting literacy and will advocate for patron information needs.
Megan is currently a library technician at the University of Montana.
Sheree West of Whitefish. Sheree has a BS in Environmental Biology from Fort Lewis College (Colorado).
She is currently working at the Whitefish Branch Library.

Catherine McMullen of Bozeman. Catherine completed her MLIS degree at the University of Washington's Information School in June 2008.
She is currently working as a library aide at Bozeman Public Library.
Kathleen Mora
of Great Falls. Kathy received her MLIS degree from the University of North Texas in August 2007.
She is currently the assistant director at the Great Falls Public Library.
Samantha Pierson of Libby. Sami received her MLIS degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in August 2007.
She is currently the director of Lincoln County Public Libraries in Libby.
Honore Bray of Missoula. Honore received an MLIS degree in May 2006 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
She is currently the director of the Missoula Public Library.
Frederick Noel of Polson. Fred completed his MLIS degree from the University of North Texas in August 2006.
He is currently a librarian at the D'Arcy McNickle Library at the Salish Kootenai College in Pablo.
Kathryn Holt of Havre. Kathryn received an MLIS degree from Drexel University in June 2006.
She is currently a library media specialist for the Havre School District.
Judith Brown McKenna of Bozeman.
Judy received her MLIS from Texas Woman's University in July 2006.
She is currently the library media specialist at Chief Joseph Middle School in Bozeman.
