Scholarship Update

Montana Library Scholarship Program

In 2008, Montana State Library joined three neighboring states—South Dakota, Wyoming and Idaho— in a formal partnership to address library education needs in the region. The SWIM Regional Collaborative Library Education Project is currently providing scholarships to educate 50 librarians and school library media specialists to work in the region's rural communities. The three-year project which began in July 2009, is funded through a $730,659 grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program.

At this time, all of the PEEL and SWIM scholarship funds have been awarded. Announcements of any future scholarship funds will be made across the state through press releases, newsletters, posters, flyers, and appropriate email listservs.
