PEEL I Stipends
Two stipend projects were funded in 2006 to demonstrate the value of having professional librarians in Montana's libraries. Stipends were used to pay ˝ of the salary for two-years.
1. Eureka School District – Eureka Elementary School Librarian
The new full-time librarian position provided information services to the students and supported classroom projects and research.
2. Helena School District – Jim Darcy Elementary School Librarian
The stipend made it possible for a full-time librarian to provide information services to the students, assist teachers with curriculum support, and update the library collection.
PEEL II Stipends
Three PEEL stipend projects were funded in 2009 to demonstrate the value of having professional librarians in Montana's libraries. Stipends were used to pay ˝ of the salary for two-years.
1. Butte Silver Bow Public Library – Technical Services & Digital Collections Librarian
This position is responsible for the development of a digital collection of monographs, pamphlets and photographs owned by the library. These historical items are being scanned, cataloged and added to the Montana Memory Project collection.
2. Butte Silver Bow Public Library – Adult Services Librarian
This position is responsible for the development of adult and young adult collections and for programming/outreach activities for young adults, adults, and seniors in the Butte community.
3. Rosebud School District #12 – K-12 Librarian
This new position serves the library during all school hours and is responsible for building a collection to support the district’s educational goals, providing support for faculty and curriculum, and teaching students how to access and use library resources.
