"Interlibrary loans (ILL) occur between cooperating
libraries as a tool to enhance access to materials. As physical collections
of individual libraries have become increasingly specialized in order
to avoid collection duplication between nearby institutions, interlibrary
loans have become a way of expanding and enhancing offerings without
constantly increasing the budgets necessary to acquire new titles."
MSDL Interlibrary Loan Policy
Ordering Interlibrary Loans
State employees and
state contractors who currently
hold or
register now for a Montana
State Library card are welcome to order Interlibrary Loans through
the Montana State Library. State employees and contractors can search
for and order their own Interlibrary Loans using our
Interlibrary
Loan interface or if they are in a hurry they can submit
article
and
book requests using our online electronic
forms. Users can also download and print our
short
tutorial that explains how to find and order Interlibrary Loans,
as well as how to sign up for an ILL account. State employees and
state contractors outside of Helena may experience problems with IP
recognition and will need to request a
username
and password to be able to access our Interlibrary Loan interface.
Public patrons are asked to contact their local libraries to
order Interlibrary Loans.
