(HELENA) - A joint project between several private, state, and federal agencies has resulted in a new poster titled, "The Montana Fish Species of Concern," which is now available to the general public. The new poster features all Montana fish that are currently ranked as a "Species of Concern," a status that indicates declining populations and vulnerability to extinction or extirpation in the state.

"This poster is not only beautifully illustrated and designed, but is also an excellent source of information, and should be hanging in every Montana classroom," said Dave Stagliano, Aquatic Ecologist for the Montana Natural Heritage Program, one of the partners in the production of the poster. "This poster provides information on some of our native, lesser-known and declining fish species to everyone who recreates on or just appreciates Montana's streams, rivers, and lakes." The poster is available at the Montana State Library, and at state offices of Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the U.S. Forest Service, and the Bureau of Land Management. The Montana Natural Heritage Program, the Montana Chapter of the American Fisheries Society, the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service were all partners in production of the poster. Turner Enterprises also contributed funds to enable a second printing in July. Joseph Tomelleri illustrated the fish, and Annette Finstad Visual Design designed and produced the poster.
