Cross-MSDI Relationships
The Soils databases relate to the following other MSDI framework themes:
- Orthoimagery—The NAIP imagery is flown in part to support to the soil survey program. Soil mapping relies heavily on the NAIP imagery for pre-mapping and field survey design.
- Elevation—The National Elevation Dataset (NED) is a key resource for soil mapping, the design and delineation of soil map units are tied to elevation and slope attributes derived from the NED.
- Wetlands—Soil map units, along with point and line features included in each soil survey database delineate and describe the physical and chemical properties of soils that can be related to the presence or absence of wetlands.
