Montana Shared Catalog: Cataloging – Transferring Items
Originally Recorded: 3/29/12
Sometimes items end up on the wrong bib records! This is caused by different things including a library’s initial migration. While the items can be deleted and then recreated on the correct record that process is quite time consuming and also causes the loss of valuable data about the item (date created etc). Fortunately, Workflows has a function that moves an item from one bib record to another in a process that is much faster than deleting and recreating and it preserves your item data. This is a step-by-step walk through of using the Transfer Wizard and a discussion of when you should transfer items.
