2019 Giant Map of MT Tour Information

10 libraries will host the map over the course of a year starting in January 2019, with each library hosting the map for a month and allowing for transfer time between libraries.

What are the main responsibilities for hosting the map?

Depending on where your library is, please be prepared to do some driving to pick-up, or drop-off the map at the beginning and end of your hosting period. We will do our best to minimize the transportation burden when organizing the tour, but it might be necessary in some cases.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Be responsible for inventory and care of the map while hosting it. We will include an inventory checklist for you to use to make sure the contents of the trunk are kept intact.
  • Be willing to do at least one program with the map at your library.
  • Be willing to publicize and share the map as a resource with your community
  • Be willing to conduct evaluations of the map activities and report to MSL ( Project Outcome Giant Map Survey PDF )
  • Be willing to familiarize yourself with National Geographic as an educational resource, and think about how you can promote geo-literacy in your library
  • Be willing to share any creative activities you think of with your colleagues!
