National Medal for Museum and Library Services

Institute of Museum and Library Services – $10,000.
This award recognizes institutions that go above and beyond and make significant contributions to their communities.  A library can be nominated by one of its employees or by a member of the community.  The nomination needs to describe the library’s goal in serving the community, the population served, community collaboration and outcome, and future projections.


The Libri Foundation is a nationwide organization that donates children’s books to rural public libraries.

The Alibris Collection Award

$3000 worth of books to academic, public, and school libraries.

We the People Bookshelf

National Endowment for the Humanities/ALA
This special initiative is for public and K-12 school libraries.   It will provide 3,000 libraries with a collection of 17 classic hardcover books for young readers related to the "Created Equal" Bookshelf theme.

W. K. Kellogg Foundation

Provides grants that support youth development and/or learning.

Verizon Foundation Literacy Grants

Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis through Nov. 1 for literacy grants from the Verizon Foundation. The purpose of these grants is to improve literacy and technology programs to help meet the challenges of learning in the 21st Century.
