A kid-friendly scavenger hunt encouraging young explorers to find trees, insects, tracks, clouds, birds, rocks, flowers, and more while exploring Montana’s outdoors.

Cards can include items kids are likely to see in Helena and the surrounding area. Items should be simple, visual, and discovery-oriented to make the game fun and accessible for all ages.

Seasonal Rotations
Create new cards every few months to reflect seasonal discoveries and encourage families to return again and again.
Winter: tracks, chickadees, evergreen needles, snowflakes
Spring: buds, worms, meadowlark songs, puddles, migrating birds
Summer: dragonflies, wildflowers, cottonwood fluff, bees
Fall: leaves changing color, migrating geese, pinecones, squirrel caches
Very Low Staff Time Required
Aside from printing new cards occasionally and restocking pencils, the program runs itself. Kids and families explore at their own pace and discover Montana’s natural world on their own terms.
