Teen-led Civic Engagement

What is the Democracy Project?

The Democracy Project is a teen-led, non-partisan initiative supported by local libraries, community partners, and Humanities Montana. This program gives teens the resources to effect change and know their role in an evolving democracy through direct civic participation. Students work for six months on projects they feel are vital to their community, ending with a public showcase.

Who can participate?

Schools and libraries in Montana, particularly those who are interested in engaging with their teens, are encouraged to reach out to Humanities Montana to ask about program availability. Humanities Montana typically asks for interest in the fall each year, but you are welcome to reach out to Jenny Bevill, the Democracy Project Coordinator to learn more and ask questions.

You can find more information about the project, current sites, and contact information at the Democracy Project with Humanities Montana webpage.
