Publishing and Archiving
The MSDI Hydrography dataset is available as a data download package and via a web map service. An updated copy of the Montana extent of the NHD is made available every couple of months. The refresh rate is dependent on the pace of USGS NHD statewide geodatabase releases.
Uses of this data include using hydrographic features as reference or base map data, as well as for analysis and modeling of water quality, water supply, pollution, flood hazard assessment, fish and wildlife, water rights, development, and land suitability.
A copy of the MSDI Hydrography dataset is submitted to the Montana State Library archive at the end of each calendar year if the dataset was re-published since the last submission to the archive.
