Success Stories

Perhaps the most important measure of success is patron use of MSDI data. Below we cite specialized uses and additional successes in the form of stewardship activities, reports, and the like.

  • There has been an upswing in the use of the Hydrologic Units dataset in the last five years (feds, counties, conservation organizations, etc.). There is awareness of it as a geography and that it offers another way to map and perform spatial analysis (timber sales, etc.).
  • A federal Stewardship website has been established with custom check-in, check-out, and editing tools.  A system is in place to update the dataset by federal stewards as needed.
